About the Event

     The International Forum o­n Bioprocesses in Food Industries and the Greek Universities of Patras and Ioannina, are proud to announce the second biennial International Congress o­n Bioprocesses in Food Industries (ICBF-2006), to be held 18-21 June, 2006 at Patras, Greece. It will be the second congress of this kind organized under the auspicious of the ICBF Forum. The first was at Clermont Ferrand, France during July 11-13, 2004. The local organizing committee excites great effort not o­nly to provide the finest facilities to the attendants but also to create the perfect environment for a successful and productive event as well as a pleasant and interesting stay both for themselves and for their accompanied persons. We invite all working in the field to participate in the congress and explore the scientific excellence growing in the field through interaction with other participants.

About the Organizers

1: International Forum o­n Bioprocesses in Food Industries.

     ICBF Forum was formed during July 2004 at the University Blaise Pascal, Clermont Ferrand, France when an international congress (ICBF-2004) was held; Professor Christian Larroche, UPB was its Convener and Professor Ashok Pandey, Head, Biotechnology Division of the Regional Research Laboratory, CSIR, Trivandum, India, (Chairman, F&H, ISFAE) was Co-Convener. Prof Pandey is Co-convener of ICBF-2006.

2: University of Patras, Greece

     The University of Patras was founded in the City of Patras in 1964 and started its operation during the academic year 1966-67. It was established primarily with the intention to concentrate o­n sciences, technology, economics, business administration and social sciences. These objectives had, in the course of time, to be adapted to new prospects arising from the recognition of the role of knowledge and technology in social and cultural growth. The initial emphasis o­n science and technology has been extended to other academic areas such as health sciences and humanities. Today, twenty-two Departments with a large number of sectors and consequently a great range of disciplines, reflect a balanced academic environment. It is the third largest University in the country and the fastest growing o­ne with 20,000 undergraduate students, 2,000 post-graduate students, 670 teaching staff, 370 administrative personnel and 400 teaching and research assistants.
 

3: University of Ioannina, Greece

     Sixteen Departments constitute the basic autonomous academic units of the University. Reflecting the traditional division into the various branches of knowledge, they offer undergraduate and graduate programmes, and they grant respective degrees. Related Departments are grouped into Schools, representing broader areas of knowledge.
All the Departments of the University are divided into Sectors, which cover more specialized areas of science.
The University Campus is located 6km from the centre of the city of Ioannina and is o­ne of the largest University campuses in Greece. It covers a total area of almost 850 acres with many green open spaces, which surround the four main buildings. These buildings cover an area of 170,000 m2, consisting of lecture-halls, offices, laboratories, libraries, etc. Large classes are held in auditoria, while scientific meetings and exhibitions are held in the Conference Centre located in the newly constructed Medical Sciences complex.
