FOUR COURSES NOW SCHEDULED FOR FALL/WINTER, 2009-10 AT THIES TECHNOLOGY IN HENDERSON, NEVADA

October 19-21, 2009 and March 3-5, 2010 - How to Make Microcapsules: Dr. Thies has taught this three day course annually since 1981. It continues to evolve in order to keep pace with the dynamically changing microcapsule technology. It is believed to be the longest running lab/lecture course in the world devoted exclusively to the hands-on learning of the synthesis of microcapsules by a variety of techniques. October 22-23, 2009 - Microcapsules Tutorial and Updates: This two day lecture course focuses on changes in microcapsule formation processes and applications. It includes a discussion of new participants in the field and commercial trends in the application of this technology. Dr. Thies has put countless research hours into staying abreast of current encapsulation techniques to provide students with relevant material. The course notes contain a collection of references and analyses of these references that is unique and very informative.February 3-5, 2010 - How to Make Nanocapsules: Due to the growing interest in nanotechnology that has occurred over the past several years, Dr. Thies developed a lab course focused exclusively to the preparation of nanocapsules which includes presentation, discussion and hands-on lab work. The instructor, Dr. Curt Thies, has over 40 years of microencapsulation experience and is owner and chief scientific officer of Thies Technology. He is Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering, Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he taught for nearly 30 years and was voted by students as “Engineering Professor of the Year” four times. Dr. Thies also spent 8 years at NCR as head of basic encapsulation research. This experience combination gives him a broad microcapsule knowledge base that he shares with his students. The courses are designed for chemists, life scientists, biologists, pharmacists and engineers, although previous experience with encapsulation is not a prerequisite for enrollment.  If you need more information or would like to register, please call 1-702-567-8206 or send an email to: service@thebiotransportlab.com.
